Punk Politics and Pandemonium Lambrini Girls Rip the Roof Off Gorilla
Better Joy

On Thursday, April 10th, 2025, Manchester's Gorilla venue hosted a sold-out show featuring the Lambrini Girls, with support from Loose Articles. Loose Articles, a Manchester-based all-female punk band, opened the night with their signature blend of sharp wit and infectious energy. Known for their infectious jagged feminist punk rock, the band delivered a set that amped the packed out venue ready for Lambrini Girls, including an impromptu limbo competition, they were the perfect aperitif for what was to come

If you wandered into Gorilla expecting a gentle evening of melodic tunes, you were in for a shock. Lambrini Girls, the Brighton-based punk duo of Phoebe Lunny and Lilly Macieira, delivered a performance that was less "gig" and more "soaul protest."

From the moment they staggered on to the stage, raised a glass to the audience and declared 'we are pissed', it was clear this wouldn't be a passive experience. Phoebe's blistering guitar riffs and Lilly's thunderous basslines incited the crowd, transforming the venue into a maelstrom of movement. Their confrontational and chaotic stage presence, was on full display, with Phoebe frequently diving into the audience, blurring the lines between performer and spectator.

The setlist was a relentless barrage of their hard-hitting tracks. "Big Dick Energy" opened the show with its searing critique of toxic masculinity, setting the tone for an evening of unapologetic social commentary wrapped in ferocious sound. "Help Me Im Gay" and "Gods Country" followed, each song delivered with a mix of sardonic humor and raw energy that had the crowd both laughing and moshing in equal measure.

The highlight of the night was undoubtedly their performance of "Gods Country." As the opening chords rang out, Phoebe orchestrated a wall of death, parting the crowd like a punk rock Moses. The ensuing collision was a cathartic release of pent-up frustration encapsulating the essence of a Lambrini Girls

By the time the final notes of "C**tology 101" faded, the audience was left sweaty and exhausted. Lambrini Girls don't just perform; they confront, challenge, and ultimately unite their listeners through shared chaos. As fans spilled out into the Manchester night, ears ringing , one thing was clear: ""Sometimes the best way to deal with the madness around us is to turn up the volume and scream it out together.""
